Jehovah, The Bloodthirsty god.

YHWH, the Canaanite bull deity otherwise known as Jehovah the God of Christianity has a side to him that few Christians really want to admit to or even look at. Jehovah is portrayed in the Bible as an all round nasty piece of work with a lust for blood that verges on the maniacal. The spilling and shedding of blood to appease him was a daily occurrence and at times it flowed like a river. He was indeed a bloodthirsty god. He was also a very nasty, vindictive god who according to the Bible brought untold misery and suffering upon man. His appetite for genocide and slaughter outstripped anything that we can imagine in our wildest nightmares. You think that Adolf Hitler and his third Reich were a bit hasty in the genocide stakes? They were saints compared to Jehovah.

Yet Christians stand around in their congregations, hands held high, singing praises and glory in adoration and tearful worship to this being that they have been taught is the One True God to be worshiped.

The mind boggles!

Taking the Bible at face value (which most Christians do) and accepting that those things which were written were true, and the deeds which were attributed to Jehovah (the supposed One True God of Christianity) were actually his deeds, here are a few highlights -

The Flood

"And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Genesis 6:13

"and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. Genesis 7:4

"Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. Genesis 7:20-23

This is the tale of Noah's ark as told to virtually every child in Sunday school. I mean, for goodness sake, they are not even out of the crèche and we have mobiles of the ark and animals hanging from the ceiling, and they are told how good God was because he saved the animals who went into the ark two by two.

But the point is the Bible claims that the flood was down to him. Everything and everybody who were not in the ark were slaughtered on a scale of mass genocide. Men, women, children, babies and every creature that lived on dry land, were, according to the Bible just drowned and wiped out, and it was attributed to the direct action and desire of Jehovah.

Way to go, Jah. If you don't like em, just drown em.

Don't argue with my High Priest

"Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:

And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi. Numbers 16:1-7

"So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me. But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. Numbers 16:27 - 35

Way to go, Jah. If anybody presumes to question the authority of your priests just annhiliate them, along with their wives and their children.

Don't offer me your strange incence

"And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. Leviticus 10:1 - 3

Oh hey, now come on Jah. Remind me to take you off my perfume list at Christmas. Don't offer Jah any unappropriate smellies, they get right up his nose.

Don't look in my ark

" And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter. 1 Samuel 6:19

Way to go Jah, kill 50,000 of them just because they looked into your box.

I could go on and on here, I could quote texts that tell of Jehovah sending fire and brimstone down from heaven to destroy cities, I could quote texts were men were killed for doing nothing more simple than steadying a cart which was about to slip, etc. But as an all round understanding to encompass the nature of Jehovah here is a text which just about says it all.

Read this and understand the nature of Jehovah, It is a bit long, but hey, it is a description that is right there in the Bible

"The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it. The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.

The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed. The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.

Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof. Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them. Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no might in thine hand.

The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway: So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head. The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.

Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it. Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit. Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.

The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever. Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young: And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.

And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee: So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. Deuteronomy 28:20-62

This text does go on, but I think that you might have got the idea by now. Jehovah was not a nice or pleasant god. He was a bloodthirsty demanding god who enslaved those who followed him into rituals of shedding blood, sacrificing just about every four footed beast that was bigger than a rabbit to pay for sin and appease him, and just about everything else nasty that you can imagine.

This god makes Attilla the Hun look almost desirable. Vlad the Impaler was a saint compared to Jehovah.

For the most part, Christians nod their heads very soberly when presented with facts like these and mutter things under their breath like - "Yes, it is a fearful thing to get on the wrong side of him."

What?

Don't worry about getting on the wrong side of him, just change sides people.

Change sides to who? Jehovah is the one and only true God.

Jehovah was not and is not the One True God. Jehovah is a nightmare from hell. Jehovah was and is an old Canaanite bull deity who wants nuking. If you do believe that the record of the Bible is true, and the things which were attributed to him were actually by his hand, then it is quite apparent that he was and is an utter nightmare of a deity.

Well, isn't it? Don't just stand there open mouthed thinking - "you can't say that". I just said it, and I meant it. What is the matter with you, do you not think the same? Because I think that if all of these things are true, then Jehovah certainly is an absolute git of a god. His is an awful demonstration of what a god should be. And you still worship him? Not me, brother.

Even many of the ancient Israelites realized that he was a terrible god and continually went after an alternative such as Ashtoreth or Baal, as we are continually told in the Bible, and for which Jehovah regularly complained through his prophets.

The Canaanites believed in and worshipped a pantheon of gods and so did the Israelites, no matter what your teachers have told you. The plain simple fact of the matter is - they did! Right throughout the Old Testament as you have been presented with it today, they have changed all instances where the text should have been interpreted as "gods" and changed it to "God" to try and make you believe that the Israelites only ever really believed in one god, and they have done it to such an extent that the text is now quite disjointed and ridiculously presented as in places such as "let us make man in our image" the "let us" being plural, but we will look at this monstrosity of a con later. For the moment be assured that the Israelites and early Jews did indeed worship a pantheon of gods. The books of the Old Testament are a continual blow by blow account of the priests and prophets of the various gods fighting for supremacy.

The pantheon of Canaanite gods was quite extensive, and I have no intention of listing them all here, but it included -

EL or AL. He was the Father of the "Gods", the Creator of Created Things.

ASHERAH. The Mother of the "Gods". She was the wife of EL. Asherah is said to have given birth to seventy "gods".

ASHTAR. Possibly a male version of Ishtar (Astarte in Canaan), the Venus Star.

ASTARTE. A Name of Anath which means "Goddess", or literally "She of the Womb". Astarte is the Canaanite version of the Name Ishtar.

BAAL: He is the Canaanite Ruler "God" (like Marduk).

YAM - YW . He was supposed to be a Son of 'EL' ("AL"); and he was part of the supreme court of EL. He was a cupbearer of the court along with Baal.

DAGON: A vegitation "God" (especially corn). Some sources list him as the father of Baal.

HELEL. The Light Bringer, the Morning Star.

LEVIATHAN. Another Name for Lotan or Tannin. He was a seven headed serpent defeated by Baal with the help of Mavet.

THE REPHAIM. "Shades". Underworld Deities. They move in chariots, on horseback, and upon wild asses.

MARAH. Merciful "Goddess" of the Waters. Twin sister of Anath. Daughter of Asherah.

ANATH or ANAT. This was a female goddess. She was a Love and War "Goddess", the Venus star.

SHALIM: "Dusk". "God" of sunset. The Contemplation of Day. Either a son of Asherah, or of Rohmaya

Throughout their history the Israelites adopted and regularly worshipped quite a number of these Canaanite deities and included them in their own pantheon of gods, including -

EL. From which we get ELOHIM and numerous Hebrew words which end in "el"

ASHERAH, ASHTERA, ASHTORETH, etc Always a main female deity, whose sign was that of a dove.

YHWH JEHOVAH, YAH, JAH. As he was adopted by Israel he was often equated with EL, and he bacame the husband of Asherah.

YHWH, Jehovah is quite often presented in the Canaanite tradition as a storm god, he lived in the clouds on the tops of mountains, he thundered and lightened, and had a connection with fire or at least with the fires which resulted from lightening strikes, you know - burning bushes and the such like. Earthquakes, storms and all things nasty coming down from above seemed to be all a part of his realm. And he was not a pleasant character!

And are you not frightened of saying such derogatory things about him, some may ask.

Not at all. I am somewhat concerned about some of his followers because some of them are really fanatical hotheads that are truly dangerous to all mankind. But Jehovah? Not at all. Why should I be any more concerned about saying what I think about him than I should be about saying what I think about Ashtoreth, Baal, or any other such Canaanite deity?

In the past I have often spoken with sincere Christians, who when presented with the texts which show the true nature of Jehovah and they nod very soberly, and respond with something like - "Yes, it is a sobering thought. We need to tread very carefully, don't we?" The answer to that is - No, you don't need to tread very carefully. You need to give the God Jehovah the elbow and find another God to worship. You need to clearly see Jehovah for the nasty, bloodthirsty god that he is and start to worship a different God.

Now lets progress to the next stage and take a look at how the very nature of the Jewish religion took control of the people.
